this collection was designed in canada & handmade by master artisans in one of the world’s largest informal settlements. it celebrates the creativity, skill, & resilience of master artisans in kibera, nairobi, kenya — a vibrant hub pulsing with community spirit.

roughly 250,000 people call kibera home, & while they face challenges like unemployment & limited infrastructure, the community continues to innovate & create. through this collection, artisans generate income to invest in schooling, housing, daily essentials & personal goals — creating meaningful impact in their own lives & within their community, while supporting a cleaner, more sustainable city.

size: 18 cm length from end to end (fits most wrists as opening of cuff is malleable for the perfect fit).

we use locally salvaged scrap metal, which is melted down & repurposed for our jewellery. each piece is finished with a hammered brass technique & 18kt gold plating — brass can be infinitely recycled without diminishing its composition, making it one of the most sustainable metals.

due to the handmade nature, slight variations may occur from piece to piece. our kibera collection bears the unique marks of our artisans who craft these pieces in their community workshop — such as minor nicks & imperfections, showcasing the authenticity & craftsmanship of each piece. embrace the individuality & celebrate the human touch that makes each creation a one-of-a-kind expression of art & resilience.

made with buckram paper & corrugated cardboard materials sourced from a FSC certified sustainably managed forest that protects animal & plant life. sealed with water-based glue.

• remove before swimming or showering as water may tarnish your jewellery.

• try to keep your jewellery away from harsh chemicals, perfumes, lotions & hairsprays as it may cause discolouration.

• avoid extreme temperatures such as high heat & extreme cold. 

• store your jewellery separate from other jewellery to avoid scratches — the soft storage pouch & box provided is a perfect spot for your jewellery storage.

• if your jewellery needs a deeper clean — mix mild dish soap with lukewarm water & use a microfiber cloth to wipe gently. ensure the piece is dry before storing again.
